I used to do a lot of advertising on a cable channel that featured listings. I also had a TV show for 9 years that was a 15 minute show that ran everyday 3-4 times. That got me lots of recognition but I was never able to track direct business to it.

The answer for me is "no"! Have had agents who have done very well with TV ads and one who did very well with a commercial.

Good morning Captain Wayne. No print or TV of any kind, for nearly 20 years. Have gotten on TV and podcasts as interviews many time, will do it as long as I don't have to pay for it.

Many years ago when not even a Realtor.  I learned then that as with everything a one time shot most often does not work.  Repitition is the key and that becomes expensive in most radio or TV slots.  Mark

Captain Wayne - I don't really think I would invest in a TV Ad or Commercial unless I had my own brokerage with a lot of agents doing a lot of business for me.

Someone called to ask that I interview to be on a real estate reality show.  I have no idea if it was real.  That's as close as I ever got.

No I haven't. Since I record everything so I can skip the commercials, I don't think I would do it. I don't think I've seen a commercial for something in years. But if it's on at the right time, and is getting to your right target market, then it could be a good idea.

I was interviewed on television, Live It Up - Interview with Gail Gladstone, but feel that the investment in something that is part of a venue not targeted to buyers and/or sellers and is 30 seconds fleeting, with no guarantee someone is sitting with a pen and paper to write down your contact info... seems like I should be playing roulette in Vegas.

No, I would not want to pay  the cost financially for how well done it would have to be before it would not  be someones Joke.  I also would not want to pay the  emotional or professional cost for it if it made me look like a buffoon either.

Yes, I think I spend about $3,300 or so and received about 8 calls, three out of my area, one of them I referred out and received a referral fee and two or three listed with me.  I made money on the deal. So I did another series of ads for about the same amount of money and received nothing. No calls.

I've done tv advertising for subdivisions to get them off the ground and announce week long open house events, for large subdivisions.... you pay by the MINUTE.... the ad was a quick one....
