We prepare 150 "treats"  (again this year we fill surgical gloves with candy) and have to turn the light out when they're gone.  We've never had any left over!

I dislike all the parties and dances pre 31st because the kids seem exhausted and bored by the time the big event arrives!  I remember one year some of the kids seemed like they had been forced to go out and looked at it like forced exercise.  I asked many of them why they looked so bored as was told they'd rather be home, eating junk their parents supplied and playing video games on their devices.    Imagine being forced to walk in the fresh air and be excited about getting candy!!!   The ONLY time we had junk food other than Birthday Cake was Halloween and chocolates & hard candy at Christmas - it was never a everyday thing.

Some of our hoods have block Halloween parties with DJs. Everyone is required to wear a costume.

There are a lot of trunk or treat events here in Delaware. The state police put one on yesterday from 2-4. They had about twenty police cars, fire trucks, etc.  lined up with a police officer, paramedic, etc. handing out candy. They also gave out Halloween safety tips and some kid sized firefighter hats. There was a huge turn out. It was a very safe and fun event.

I am not seeing parties any more and very few trick or treaters. Not my favorite event in the year - dressing our daughters up like tarts and sending hem out to beg for candy from strangers

William Feela I came to this country in early 90s - and my children used to go house-to-house for trick or treat.

We do see some of them visit our house on Halloween - not enough, though. May be, it's a neighborhood related.

Not in San Diego; still many private parties. Florida; it has always been about the door-to-doors
