My father died 2 months ago after a 14 year long illness. My mother has re-invented herself in the past 2 months from someone who primarily cared for an ill man to someone who finds joy in every day. I'm trying to follow in her footsteps.

Yes I have, I turned 64 last month and realize how quickly I have gotten here.

Yes and I am ready and live each day as if it could be my last. I have a friend find out he has maybe 6 months to live. So sad and his wife cries all the time.

I'm reading Being Mortal by Atul Gawande right now. Great book about preparing for the end of life from a physician's perspective.

Yes which is why I have a low tolerance for anyone or anything that wastes my time

I suspect as we all near the end of the road traveled we appreciate really how short the road was and how little left to travel.  To try and balance that terrible weight a bit we make the most of every moment.  Or should.  Mark

Absolutely, our time is limited here so it is up to every individual to be the most productive, help others in need and make the most of the time they have on earth.
