If I were a realtor, no I would NEVER do that.  Too dangerous, too much liability.  And, I would guess very low turn out...among real buyers.

I don't do open houses, but if I did I wouldn't do it on Halloween. I stay at home and hand out treats to gazillions of kids in my neighborhood.

Vera -- interesting question -- I'm assuming you mean the day of Halloween and I don't recall if I have(or haven't).   Could be a fun time but not so sure about how many real buyers come out in costume.  

A good of a reason as any. Could be a fun theme if you plan it right. Come to my open house, not using a REALTOR® is spooky.

I will not host an open house on that occasion.  Can you imaging a Re-Max gorilla jumped out or a chimp stalks you?

No, but if I did I'd be gone long before it started to get dark.  This year it's on a Saturday so I wouldn't waste my time personally.

Good morning Vera. I stay away from open houses during any kind of holidays or major upcoming sporting events. Not really sure if it makes a difference.

Never have and never will. Too many things can go wrong on that day. Why take the chance?

If open houses worked in my area, I wouldn't mind doing one early on Halloween. I would have a lot of fun with it, too. 

I am sure I have but can't remember if it was profitable or not. I would want to be closed down and home by the time the trick or treating started.

I can't see myself hosting an open house on Halloween for a number of reasons.

I can see myself walking the neighborhood prior to Halloween and dropping branded/logoed Halloween bags, safety strobe lights, reflectors, etc.

No, my guess is it be a low turn out excepts for kids wanting free candy maybe if it is in the afternoon.
