Lise -- I wish I said yes but I can't(I just won't) lie about this.   It's rare(I can't recall when I did) turn on my furnace -- no risk of carbon monoxide as it's electric but(serioiusly) the practice of having it serviced annually is very wise.

But Yes, our inspectors recommend it as an annual service (roof too)...even here.

Yes...Spring and Fall my HVAC guys come out and inspect the units so my A/C gets ready for the summer and furnace gets ready for the winter.
