It is normally 25%of the total received by the company before any deductions.  Although you will see referral fees at present ranging as high as 45% with some relocation companies and a few agents.

I send my referral fees based on the total amount received by my company.  I assume the agent receiving the referral will be splitting with his/her broker.

A referral commission is taken from the gross commission paid to the brokerage firm.  Your brokerage firm would have a signed agreement with the referrer and it would note that as well.

It's 25% of the total commission before splits as far as I'm concerned.  I have done quite a few AR referrals and that is how I pay the referral fee.

It is typically 25% of the check written to your brokerage.  Splits for you and the company should be determined after the 25% is paid.
