What?  We're not suppose to wait forever when making a health insurance call?  I've waited up to half an hour for questions on the subject.  

In Canada, we press 1 for English and 2 for French.  I always press 2 because I know they have to be bilingual and speak english to me.  Always faster because there are fewer french speaking people!

Or I press neither and pretend I'm still on a rotary phone which takes you to an operator!

I am still waiting. It has been years and still no one has returned my call. I thought I was important and they were going to give me help to prevent an IRS audit.

Praful...here's a dirty little secret...

Hang up and hit redial repeatedly....you WILL get connected faster.

And remember the 'sales' line is always answered before the support line.

I don't track such metrics.  I will wait longer if it is important to me.

I am always amused when the recording says that they are having a higher than expected volume so the wait will be longer.  This, of course, always happens on a day when there is no reason to expect a higher than normal volume, at least from a consumer viewpoint, and makes the consumer wonder why they cannot plan for such volume, especially if they have been around for many years and should have such metrics readily available.

I have waited for an hour for expedia for the price match feature..

not even that long

I've waited much longer 24 minutes when it's critical, but much less than that if it's not critical.

Good morning Praful. Not sure, as when I have a call like that to more, I can usually find something else to do, so the time can go by quicker. That is a long wait for sure.

It has been many years since I called one of these.

Many years ago sometimes this too hours, in more modern times google and online chats replaced this in most companies

I put it on speaker phone and can outlast them.  The problem is that it sometimes just hangs up after a lone period of time.  That's frustrating.

I put the phone on speaker and let it got...I was diconnected after an hour and 42 minutes.

Frustrating.  I typically put them on speaker phone and go about my business until they answer.

I wait 10 minutes, then I'm out. 

No kidding, Praful. This is what I refer to as customer dis-service! But I've been known to hang on for as long as 30 minutes when necessary.

I think over 40 minuets, customer service has gone away for some industries.  Choices are limited though so sometimes we don't have an option to switch providers like people can switch real estate agents.

I wait about 10 seconds.....not very patient...
