Lots of calls.  I look up the number to verify it's a junk call and add to the blocked list. 

Yes - my guess is they are telemarketing calls -- I typically don't answer private number or toll-free calls for that reason.   Sometimes, you can tell when you answer and there is a delay or pause before the other party starts to speak.  

I've also seen an increase lately as well.  Very annoying.

We get those too.

Probably telemarketers, there are days when I want to just remove my landlines, far too distracting to keep answering a phone when nobody of importance is on the line.

Just kidding, my mom gets robo calls all the time. I have not had much trouble with it lately.

We receive a high volume of these calls. They make you consider changing your phone number.  Expect these calls to continue when your phone number is on the internet.

we get buyers from out of the area. however, if it isnt a area code within 90 miles i generally (not always, depends on time of day) dont even answer it. If they want info they will leave a message. if there is no number shown, i never answer it

I don't answer and see a steady amount of incoming calls. 

Oh yes, I get a lot of these.  They are spam callers, robo dialing several numbers at same time.  I look them up online and see the many reports. I then classify them as spam...because they do call back...and then I ignore them.

On out of the area code calls, I do not pick up. Rather I look up the number and look at it... If I see a posting I added to the list....

If I get VM from outside of my ac, majority are what you described. Robo calling.... 

Rich and I are getting these too. I get about 5-10 a week. I've started blocking them.

Yes I have gotten a good bit lately that just hang up when I answer.

Debbie Reynolds You're not the only one. We are getting these and local spoofed numbers that are telemarketers. I usually Google the number and them block them.

It could also be fax machines or fax services that have your number programmed in the fax machine or the fax database.

Where my telephone provider and/or devices allow, I aggressively block telemarketing calls that I don't want to receive.

Actually it most likely is one of those robocalls which are trying to make sure there is a life person answering the phone

I have been getting some crazy ones lately. Some even leaving voicemails.

I am noticing it too. If they leave a message I know it may be legitimate.

I get at least one call a day from Google, and most I do not answer, and they never leave a message.

I have been getting a lot of  800 prefix calls, and others from California area codes.

Yes. I think is is recordings and of course I don't stay on the line long enough for them to get it going.

Yes, quite a few of late, and I suspect that they are telemarketers. It has also gotten where I hate to even hear the phone ring, when its out of state.
