Competition is good but for consumers, they need to take the time to hire the best not just the biggest,.

Honest competition has never hurt anybody, as far as I'm concerned. And in reality in this business I pretty much feel I don't compete with anyone but myself.

Of course competition is good.
Without competition, service levels sink to that of the typical government worker.

DISAGREE.
ALL real estate transactions should go through me.
Seriously, competition is good, however, the prevalent environment of DECEPTION, supported by the dollars many real estate professionals, creates a perversion in the marketplace where the spirit of competition is sacrificed at the alter of convenience.
ADD to that perversion the overt action of NAR and local real estate boards and the suggestion of competition melts away. The competition you suggest applies only to the sand box NAR has defined. We now have the fox guarding the hen house, and call it competition.

Agree, for those that stive to provide the best standard they will always have business. It just pushes a few to succeed at a higher level without government or someone else messing it up to make it better.

As long as the clients are taken care of, sure. We recruit agents from other companies so I guess that's competition.
As far as agent to agent, it's all in what you want. One guy in our downtown office is super competitive. It's what drives him and he is successful. I'm not as competitive but just as successful. If beating other agents drives you, so be it.
Good question. It made me think.

I agree with what Scott Godzyk said. Competition is great, but can be confusing to consumers when there are so many choices. The consumer, for the most part, doesn't know how to do their due diligence in hiring a competent agent. Too many choices is tough. Have you tried to choose a paint color lately.? Hardly a good comparison, but you get the drift. Too many choices is sometimes a crap shoot.

competition is what keeps us fueled.... without competition, there's no urgency to perform....the fun would be gone.... real estate agents feed on competition....
