 Good Tuesday morning Ginger. Having your phone with you and answering it would be a great start. (You would be surprised how many real estate agents do not answer their phone.)

1. Phone (communications, calendar, MLS lookup and the Supra key).
2. Business cards.  I didn't follow this rule at the gym today and missed an opportunity to make a lead!
3. Research and paperwork related to the task on hand (comps, listing form, offer form, etc.).  Plus pens and highlighters and blank paper for notes.  Some forms like a listing and offer, are just more meaningful on paper.
4. Shoes you can walk 20 miles in, through rough terrain.  Personal rule of mine after watching the eastern seaboard power grid go down and seeing people walking home from NYC in high heels.
5. Personal protection (knives, firearm, etc.)

Cell phone, maybe a camera, maybe a pen (for those people without smart phones...yes it does happen in my area.) paper, business cards and a hammer. To use as a weapon should you need it, and to hammer a sign in the ground. I also carry a tool kit for unexpected things that might come up.
