As a lender I will comment on what I have found makes me valued to my realtor partners. A lender is a reflection of the realtor. My realtors are endorsing me to the buyer as a subject matter expert and someone they can trust with the most important financial decision of their lives. That is a VERY high endorsement. To fulfill that endorsement I believe it is my responsibility to be knowledgeable, set accurate expectations, under-promise and over-deliver, and most importantly communicate. Never withhold information, if there is an issue bring it up so we can all get together and solve the issue. Most importantly… remember it is a relationship therefore it needs constant work and can never be taken for granted. I teach LO’s that they MUST over communicate and EARN their realtors business every day. I advocate attending open houses with the realtors and trying to help get someone qualified on the spot and submit offers. A LO is a financial salesperson and should be there selling their services with their realtors. It’s a partnership, treat it as such.
