Lise Howe now if I am the boss, I will not pay someone for spending 2-3 hours a day on ActiveRain....lol!
Other than that, my employee works hard - and may deserve 40-50 hours of pay.
Sometimes he goes at 60 and sometimes at 35, too.

Great question Lise!
I generally don't think of myself as an hourly kind of person, more focused on the project.
But from a time management standpoint asking this question could lead to much better use of my time, including what I am doing right now.
But a guy has to have some recreation too, so I will continue to answer a few more of these questions (without pay of course).

Do you really mean that we should not be paid for time on Facebook and coffee or a long lunch with other agents in the office?

I'm not the boss here, but I do like to have all of my hours productive.

Lise - a good question and likely a very scary one. I don't typically look at answers first but this time I did and I believe I am most in agreement with Bob Crane -- it's about the result. Even when I'm "playing" on AR or in some other similar activity -- I think that is part fun - part work if that makes sense.

Wow - good question. The more I think about it, the less I like the answer. Better hit the grindstone!

This is an extremely broad question with limited info provided.
It could involve an analysis of the type of legal organization (proprietorship, partnership, type of corporation, trust, etc) that was paying, who owns the entity, following the terms in any ownership, management or other agreements, the most tax efficient way or ways of paying, tax planning issues, issues of wanting or not wanting to reach a variety of thresholds to meet various objectives and more, and other issues.
In many cases, it is easier to pay lump sums rather than amounts based on hours worked.

Instead of working 60 to 90 hours per week, I would be getting paid for 40 hours.

About 45 hours. I work more than that but wouldn't pass that on to the boss.

Average would be 40 hours, maybe a little more.

Lise Howe I'd probably go with a 40-hour week.

Counting in the procrastination about 10 would be overpaying!

Great question. I think for us if we would average out the entire year (season vs non-season, holidays etc) it would probably be 20 hours a week. We have months with no snowbirds. :)

Lise - I would pay myself as many hours as I actually worked in a week, no more, no less.
