I was living in Stamford, CT (NYC metro area). I could see all the smoke from balcony so I didn't go out there for a while. At the time, I was working on Mott's applesauce, and I don't think it had a big impact on consumption, but it certainly had a huge impact on our area, and many moved out of the city to suburbs.
I remember being so worried about my dad who was in the City and in a mtg (so not at his mid town office) and none of knew were he was until the late afternoon. Most of the cell phones (as well as reg phones) were not working in our area so we couldn't get in touch w/ each other.

It was a Tuesday and I was home listening to the radio thinking it must be some kind of War of Worlds type of broadcast -- it didn't seem real. That day, one of my buyers ratified a purchase agreement typically I wouldn't recall a particular date beyond holidays but I doubt I will ever forget that very sad day.

At the beach; we turned on the tv to check the weather and it all began. I was working for an international corporation then and it severely affected our business for many months. I remember we had a big impromptu company picnic a few days later, where we ended the event singing God Bless America. On a personal level, our lives changed totally...my husband was recalled for active duty, necessitating a move to another area and the rest is history.

I was at a sales meeting in my office when someone ran in and said turn the tv on... as NYC is my hometown, needless to say I was in a state of shock. I was in a bigger state of shock when I realized I had friends who worked in the WTC and close by. Didn't rest until I knew they were safe. Started crying that evening... it took that long for all of it to really sink in.

Good morning Michael. Everyone remembers where they were, it was impossible not to. Our numbers dipped, but not that much.

I was in the office, and it certainly led to a stoppage of all production.

We were still living in The SF Bay Area back then; my bride & I were getting ready for work and I thought I was watching a movie at first, I couldn't believe I'd just watched the second plane hit the tower live on the news. I canceled my day and sat in front of the news all day; I couldn't bring myself to do much else. It truly affected me; I was stunned. Remember too, that day we didn't know how many attacks were planned or where they'd hit next, we didn't know "what next?"

Michael Thornton I was attending a weekly Office meeting. One agent was watching the TV and called everyone into the conference room. Very tragic.

I was in NJ watching on TV in horror not knowing where my husband who had commuted in that day might be at the time. In fact he had just exited the Holland Tunnel, ditched the car (which stayed below Chambers St for weeks) and took to foot and safety.
The most frightening and horrifying day for our country.

I was at home...a stay at home mom at the time. I remember that morning vividly.

I was pulling out of my Santa Clara driveway headed to work at Lockheed. The crashes had just happened as I learned on the radio while driving. I wasn't sure if Lockheed would even be there, but I kept driving. The roads were mostly empty. To say it was eerie would be an understatement. God bless the first responders and the families who lost dear ones.

I was in my home office and had Good Morning America on and sat there without moving for hours. I was doing business development for a small company and we decided to stop all calls for the day.

I was sitting in high school Marine Biology class in Pennsylvania, watching on the TV. I had no business to be impacted, but personally, it led to an awakening of a personal interest in the geopolitical world, and it led to many friends joining the military - one of whom was my best friend, who was killed in Iraq as an indirect result of 9/11.

Standing at the door with bags packed just heading out to the airport for 2 weeks in Vegas. Got out of Tampa 3 days later on the first flight that was able to fly. Vegas was horrible. Ghost town. Everyone apparently thought "sin city" would be next.

I was on a school bus on my way to a 5 day field trip into the wilderness of Wisconsin from Chicago. Actaully did not see any pictures or video of it until we got back on the 16th. It made for a lot of interesting conversations between teachers and us kids.

I was at home as we are PST and was watching the news on TV in horror. I recall my daughter was crying and didn't want to go to school. We assured her it was back east and would not affect her here in CA. I had taken the day off work and I stayed glued to the TV all day. I will never forget that awful day!

Michael Thornton - I had moved to my new home a week before only! No TV, new phone landlines and only I had cell phone from my work!
I had to shave my mustache because anyone looking Arabian were suspects!
And yes, in office, I was one of the few Indian - and separated from masses! Not their fault - it's just that fear of unknown!

We had just moved to CT from Long Island. On a clear day, I could see the Twin Towers from our upstairs windows there. I was driving my son to pre-K when I heard the news; there were no details as yet; thought it was just a small plane that strayed and slammed into one of the buildings, but alas turned out to be so much worse. We'll never forget.

At the time I worked in advertising in NYC (5th Ave btwn 21st & 22nd St). I was just about to turn off the tv and head to the office when I saw the coverage.
