I prefer to say we went separate ways.
Not every relationship works out. Real life and real estate.
It's not me, it's them err I mean really it's not you..

Yes, I told them I think I have another realtor that would be a better match and got a referral fee out of it.

Too busy and not taking any addtional work right now was my way of dismissing someone. Two weeks later, I get the same guy calling me back begging for my services....and with a new atttitude, took it on

Dale Erwin It is often a two way street. Incompatibility among clients and agents does exist. I once offered to back out of a listing, but the client declined.

YES - I have been a licensed real estate agent for 30 years and I do not have time for clients that are working with other agents at the same time they are working with me. I have let a client go for this reason and for being obnoxious.

Yes, because he became verbally abusive to not just me, but my team. That's where I draw the line. I do try to work with everyone. If I know an owner isn't going to listen and the listing is going to be way overpriced, I just don't take it. Not worth putting the marketing dollars out there, if it isn't going to sell.

I've stopped doing business with a few clients over the years. If the demands on my time, patience, and sanity become greater than the benefit of closing their loans, I'd rather they go elsewhere. I value my time too much to spend it on time leeches.

The main reasons I'll fire a client is when they are unrealistic and insist on writing lowball offers. My feeling is this is my reputation and coming in with offers that are ridiculous make me look like a fool. The other reasons are when they totally disrespect me. I can only think of this being the situation twice in my 19 year career. I usually let them learn on their own that we are not a good fit.

Yes, a few times. Once the client was trying to micro manage me so much, I was having chest pains from all the additional stress that was added to the listing. I was unable to help my other clients due to the time this client was taking. Another time years ago it was a buyer. I was their 3rd or 4th agent in 2 years. I thought I could sell them, then realized they were professional house shoppers who were never going to purchase anything. One of them slipped up one day and said the other would never move out of the house they were in because they wanted to purchase that one. I should have realized if I was their 3rd - 4th agent in 2 years, that was a huge red flag.

More than once. With buyers, if they haven't found a home they want after a year of searching. With sellers, if after months of being on the market, they won't get real about home value.

Yes. Because they had their property under contract and the day of closing they refused to sell the house, and would not release the earnest money.

Yes, I have. In one case because they agreed to work exclusively with me and then didn't; in another case because they wouldn't listen to reason about lowering their price; in another case because I brought the seller four offers over asking price and he didn't take any of them making it clear he wasn't a real seller.

YES. Why? It was to difficult to determine if the client was speaking or the disease.
