Personally I don't think the public cares about the ABC's after our names.

Thomas, the CRS education is some of the best in the industry. I am receiving CRS referrals; however, I also actively network with other CRS in my state and elsewhere.  I don't care whether the public knows what CRS is or whether others who don't have the designation think it's worthwhile because I know it is. 

Having been a CRS many years I can say it is very professional and has valuable learning tools and webinars. I get CRS referrals every year from other CRS's. It is my most important designation.

Before AR, I would ALWAYS use the CRS roster to refer business.... 

I had to check in and see what others are saying. I would get this designation for education and referral purposes only. I don't like the designations that make you pay every year to keep them, and that's the biggest reason I haven't gotten this one. Although I've checked out the courses and I think there are some great educational opportunities here. 

I do have a lot of designations. It's not because I think the public cares, but I care about my education and learning more so I can serve my clients better. 

The education is more important than the designation. It is difficult to justify the expense of the designations.

Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor It's a good idea to get this designation. However, what I do not like is, continue to pay for it after a year or two (to best of my knowledge) - just to use that designation and their site, perhaps.

Like you said in your comment on John McCormack answer, I think most agents know that the ABC's behind your name mean nothing for the most part to clients, and not more business. The networking is a bonus.

I always try to see what classes can count as CE credit and towards a designation, that way it's something I have to do anyway.

I know that Bob has mentioned this, and I suspect that he will be getting it.

Seems to be one of the better designations.

The current A & B designation path options are being eliminated and replaced with one new path which requires 60 transactions or $30 million in sales volume over the most recent three years plus 30 hours of CRS classroom or eLearning course credit. Susan Emo - The CRS is one of the many alphabet soup (or Alpha Ghetti, if you are more into pasta than soup) designations offered by NAR.  NAR does market many of their designations at TREB's RealtorQuest trade show each year to encourage people to sign up - they have been there for many years. 

Also, TREB and, separately, the Real Estate Institute of Canada (the group that has the FRI designation) have entered into some training and certification type agreements with NAR in the past couple of years for some of NAR's many designations.  Some of the designations have Canadianized content.
