Not specifically this month but it happens.  It doesn't bother me -- it could even create possible referrals if they do become and stay licensed but discover real estate is not a good match for them.   

I tell them they have to love and embrace the letter D:

1. Death
2. Divorce
3. Debt
4. Downsizing

That's what makes up the majority of our business and that's what happens to the majority of Realtors too

Two this month.  In the spring it seemed like everyone was talking about jumping on board. 

I like michaeks idea. I am flattered when someone asks us of our work and curious to join, as they asked you, and they thought enough of you for your opinion

I've been asked often.   My standard response; "Become a Realtor and you can set your own hours.  I can work my 75 hours a week at any time I like!"

No one 

When the market is as hot as ours has been many people think our job is easy. Just put a sign up, the house will sell and you will get to cash a check.

We get calls from students wanting to get into the real estate business. 

None this month. 

Some companies recruit agents on a constant basis with the knowledge that they may make a few sales to family and friends before giving up.

Not recently, but frequently in the past. I think they want to ride the wave. I consider it a compliment - we must make it look very glamorous!

Only one person so far this month has asked for my opinion on getting into real estate.  

One, and he might follow through, but he is moving to Southern VA and just wants to be a part time agent.

Not this month, but it does happen. If they are actually interested and it seems like they would work hard in it I am happy to assist & advice. Sometimes you get people that think this job is like they see on TV though, those agents usually don't last longer then a year due to lack of passion and work ethic.

I always encourgne them to proceed with the attached line, "we need your money." 'What?" they respond.

"It is the money brought into the business by newbies that keep the lead generation, template website companies, postcard folks and brokers rolling in money. This constant churn of new money if supported by the reality so very, very, very, very few see their second year anniversary. "

I continue, "If you are serious..really serious regarding making a commitment to a successful real estate career, I do have the time to help you." 

"What! Did you say less than 90% make it! No way. I'm outta here."

I have had 2 but it does happen all the time, i agree as few if any ever go ahead with it.
