Yes, once. I was debated aggressively in my blog comments (on one in particular) that I was asked to remove (originally) or re-write and I refused and exposed this fact in my comments with a very spirited debate..ain't this America? It was resolved by a phone call, so ultimately it was a rewarding ending, but it all started with words on a blog...powerful are our words.

I feel we post opinions, facts or stories we believe in and or to be true, so in a sense the debate was why I wrote it. I don't write all my blogs to get an "at-ta boy", if people like it great I'm pleased, I'm an author and I love the compliments. But,  I also write them to get people to think, debate me, to educate, to alert or get people to laugh. I love reading other polarizing opinions and debating them in Q&A or on blogs. Other opinions  get you considering other points of view, maybe they are better than your own? You learn a different fact or way of looking at a topic; dare I say learn a better way of doing things. We can't please all our readers so, I feel honesty over PC is the best read.

(Now you may ask which one of my blogs was it? If you were subscribed to me and you'd already know  So, I'll let my curious public seek it out if so inclined).

Yes.  One of my early posts completely pissed off the listing agent of a property that I tried (without luck) to preview.  Her broker kept calling me and my broker asking that I take it down or they would sue and file a complaint with the Maryland Real Estate Commission.  I left it up.  They didn't sue, but she did try to file a complaint on the basis that I was "an embarrassment to the industry".  Luckily, the Maryland Real Estate Commission told her that I was not the one embarrassing the industry.

Yes I have.

No I did not.

Would I? Yes.

If I posted something that was dismissive, offensive or disrespectful of a group I would apologize and take it down. If the opposing party resorts to belligerence or personal attacks, I know they are wrong and it stays.

However, if I am simply disagreeing or presenting another, and perhaps disagreeable point of view, IT STAYS.

The PURPOSE of writing is to stimulate the reader. And sometimes the reader was more happy in their sleep. That is the currency and the cost of doing business in words.

Jeff,

No.  I think when writing a post, one should be smart and realize that on the Internet there are no secrets, so whether writing a post or comments, someone will read it and brand you with it.  So the question is how do you want to be seen and branded?  A

I haven't been asked to do so. Although I'm a fan of free speech and see the reason why someone would feel the need to defy a request to take down a blog post, my theory is this: Though I strive for accuracy, I'm not a journalist. I'm blogging for clients. And I've written hundreds upon hundreds of articles- none of them are going to win a Pulitzer. So- if one person has an issue I can easily let the post go into the digital waste bin.

I see that, in your case, it was a new home community that balked about something. I would probably take the post down and have a discussion with them. Chances are I could gain understanding that could lead me to being able to better educate my potential buyers. If they are less enthusiastic I'll make a mental note about how to potentially work with them in the future. If they're business savvy they'll understand that it's in their best interest to receive all the free publicity they can get.

Well, Yes, Jeff, I have. It was back in the day of the ruse that was pulled off by one AR member. The entire site was up in arms. The blog roll was reblogging posts to get the word out. I wrote a post piggy-backing off another AR member's post. Then I got the call ... take it down. If you don't, we will.  The post I piggy-backed on was also removed.  You remember, RR - don't you, Jeff Dowler CRS?

Jeff Dowler CRS - I have never been asked - however I had to replace a picture of meet up when one of the participant insisted that I keep the logo of that photographer in the post.

The post was re-blogged and I had to request this person to take the post off, which she willingly did.
