points mean nothing....features mean nothing.... I think the greatest compliment is to have a great number of subscribers.... that's a reflection of the value of your content....

The important thing is that when you get up to 500,000 pts, you get free membership.  And, along the way, you get reduced costs, too.  After that, it's just for fun.

They don't matter except for bragging rights. Although it would be nice to get an AR t-shirt when you hit the one million point club. LOL.

I believe Roger D. Mucci has been waiting to convert his points for a trip to Tahiti or a washer-dryer combination for more than five years.   Hmm, maybe his new knees are a result of points....

Good morning Gary. I pay no attentions to any discussion about the points, to me the points are meaningless, the relationships that I have built is the only thing that matters to me.

you are a Rainer. That means your blogs don't go Anywhere but to all of us. If you pay so much a month, you become a Rainmaker. That means your blogs can be seen by the public.  Once you have 500,000 points you have that service for free. After that it becomes a fun thing to get lots of points.

LOL we wish there was! I don't get why so many folks focus so much on something that means so little.

We have been blogging since 2008.  There were at least 10 real estate specific platforms that we put our posts on.  Today, there are 3 left, and they are limping along with very few valuable posts.  

This point system works to keep us interested, and I would not change a thing when it comes to points...So there is a lesson here that is valuable as to how this platform was conceived and runs.    A

I make a lot of great points and counter points in my blogs, rants and Q&A answers; check them out  I'm a fun read.

There are  3 benefits to having a lot of points. 

1. Membership costs reduce as the number of points increase.

2. Bragging rights. We love being #1 in our market area :)

3. Street credibility. People with more points have been around longer and are a more reliable source of info, or at least that's the impression.

I might as well spill the beans.  Roger D. Mucci and I have been saving our points for years.  We plan on pooling them at some time in the future to take an extended vacation to Tahiti or some other exotic place. 

Gary, right now, I actually have the most points here on ActiveRain.  And I promise you that it's highly unlikely that Ben will share his fortune with me.  Points are just a fun little obsession with a lot of us.  Now, if you could use them to buy shoes, the whole thing would make more sense!

I always said the poin system is genius. All of us competitive types can't help but pay attention to it, realizing full well that other than the price reduction it doesn't mean very much.

It's what you make of it. Sometimes it reminds me of the REALTORS® who post their volume plaques on Facebook. You wonder if they made iany money doing it and if the volume is about them not the client. I could blog inanities everyday and get a lot of points, but excuse the pun, what's the point?

You will hear both they dont matter and from a few they do. First you get a discount on your RainMaker fee for every hundred thousand and when you hit 500k, your account is free. Next the higher you are on your state list, county list and city the more exposure you get. the fact is the person with the most points in your area is on top and seen by more potential customers. LASTLY if you are earning points you are active, if you are active you will be attracting more new clients which is a winn any day.
