I have not met anyone on AR who is afraid of sharing ideas.  All ideas are not going to work in all markets.  What works in one falls flat in another one.  A

That's the beauty and attraction of ActiveRain - a community of caring and sharing people who don't hesitate to offer assistance when needed.  I've learned more here in the past many years than in any CE course :)

I'm never afraid to share ideas with another Realtor as long as that other Realtor is 100 miles away from me.

Some Realtors feel that they would be giving away their secret weapon to the competition.

(Though it's rarely a secret and most of the competition wouldn't use it anyway.)

I am not afraid to share, heck I share my most valuable information via webinar and blog posts.

They way I see it, I'll compete against anyone with my brand, service etc. If the client prefers someone else OK, maybe we were not a match.

I don't think they realize that they are not doing this. Most every agent is busy trying to make a living, after all we are in competion with each other which creates a " silence is golden" kind of  mentality with each other. I am open to help and share ideas with anyone.

There is no shortage of idea sharing in the ActiveRain network.

If you have that problem in your office, change offices.

Never been afraid to share. As a matter of fact I do a lot of mentoring. The ones that are fearful are the ones with self confidence issues.

we aren't on AR - but in a small office or market center they are afraid of helping the competition - Although I also believe that KW agents are different because of our culture and profit share. 

Tyrone, we are not.

However, sharing them in a public forum is not what I am inclined to do.

Those who are REALLY looking for new ideas or guidance on implementation will take the extra step and contact the one who seems most informed.

Nothing, nothing, nothing I share in a public forum is actionable even though it might seem a complete thought.. 

To date (I didn't start yesterday), only two AR participants requested more information. One regarding creating inventory and the other about the CIS Score.

This suggests to me, most participants on AR are NOT seeking information but are seeking validation. I choose the save the good stuff for those who raise their hand.

Many of them think we are competitors and not working together.

They can't stand the competition!

I am not, I learn something new on every transaction from agents on the other side.  Often times it is how NOT to handle a situation.

Competition. However, I share information with Realtors.

Mostly from a scarcity mentality, afraid that there are a finite number of clients.

Most people on AR seem to know that sharing ideas elevates the profession, leading to more clients for everyone.

I do not know.  I have mentored other agents and help them get started in there real estate career.

I'm not afraid to share, and I've never met anyone on AR that's afraid to share. Having said that, however, there are agents who refuse to help other local agents - I presume because they fear competition. I always think that there is enough business to go around.

Hi Tyrone -- it's silly to be afraid of sharing.  Far too many never take the advice or implement the success stories heard.

As others have answered, AR has so many resources that are so giving. Barbara Todaro immediately comes to mind --- there are so many others.
