How do I include text messages in my lead tracking system?

My system is a weekly totals spreadsheet of sources. As leads come in from various sources I always mark the source in my "daily lead log" and then once a week I tally totals. I do this in excel. I keep a separate tab for each month. I do not prospect by text though because I feel they need to "opt in" to texting by texting me first so text would not be a source. If I do get a text when I establish contact I ask them what brought them to contact me I use their answer as the source.

There are apps that will forward your text messages to your email. This should then be able to be logged into your tracking system.
