Even being a newbie, I have given out three referrals. Before getting into real estate though, I had a marketing company where I worked with other realtors and gave them a bunch of leads! We are talking 50 pre-approved people in two months, not too shabby. So far in my career however, one of the referrals I gave, I was helpoing my client sell two of their houses and buy another. One of the houses they were selling was out of my area expertise and I told them that I believed it was in their best interest to list that particular house with an agent who was more familiar with the area. The first referral I gave, my client came back and told me he was not comfortable witht the agent and felt as if the agent didn't care at all, which saddened me and mad me upset at the agent all at the same time. Yet, my client still asked me for another referral. With alot of research I found a great agent that they are very comfortable with. What puzzled me was, the first agent I gave the referral to had 15+ years experience. Here I am two months in the field and clients are more comfortable and have more faith in me....what is wrong with this picture?!?!?

Many are recylced leads. People who are out of the area or not right chemistry.... Thought another agent can be a tie breaker...

I have given out many referrals. If it is not in my service area I usually refer it out.

Chris and Dick - I have handed out referrals whenever I can, and have handed out way more than I have received.

I have given 4 referrals so far. I just celebrated my one year anniversary. Being the new agent, I would take all the leads I could collect, but now I am at the point where I can pass some leads to newer agents, if I cannot tend to a new client at the time.

I'm working on my second one in three months. AR made it easy to find the agent. I haven't done all that many. In eight years probably less than 12.

I don't think I could even guess. Probably 50+ and have been given probably just as many over 19 years.

Chris and Dick Dovorany - I've really just given a handful of referrals.
It can be stressful and disappointing because many agents act as though they're doing you a favor. I find that remarkable.
A referral is a gift. Treat it that way. Keep the referring agent in the loop.
I referred a agent to a seller in another state last week. It took talking with more than a few agents to find the one who the seller and I think is the right one.

thousands.... many resales were for no referral fee....I wanted to keep the "top agents" focused on MY resale properties.... I listed new homes....many subdivisions....

I have lost count. I'm transitioning to a business model that will be all referral based.
