I had 2 Australian Shepherds (bigger dogs) who would turn into little puddles of shaking fur the second a firework would go off!  One would try and hide behind the toilet in the downstairs bathroom and the other would instantly pee.

They couldn't even watch a good war movie like The Longest Day which we should all watch today being D Day.

Good morning Larry. We have the same issue. We attend fireworks away from our home, but they are still shot off in our area, but not that bad.

Maybe we live in a city with a lot of ''noise'', my pets care less about fireworks.

Sorry, for your dog, poor thing.

I have never had a problem with any of my dogs.  Now, I do not take them near the fireworks, but "someone" seems to fire off a few firecrackers each time the Hawks win and they merely lift up their heads.  Previous dog did not flinch either.  Feel sorry for your little guy.  Good luck!  Maybe keep them in the basement, where the noise may be less loud for them?

Thunder jackets or thunder shirts help calm them quite a bit.

That is a big problem for my Lab/Pit mix. Luckily for us our veterinarian prescribed a doggy sedative that makes him a little sleepy, and we have not had problems since! i was worried about giving it to him at first but the doc. assured me it was perfectly safe.

Yes my sheltie Lucy gets upset over thunder & fireworks.  But she wants to lay in the bed and be petted to calm down.  She shakes and grunts.  My other sheltie Tanner sleeps through everything and nothing bothers him.  They were both rescued from puppy mills.

Larry - my poor departed dog, Lucky, was gun-shy when my Larry brought her home from a hunting lease.  Thunder, fireworks, you name it and she was a nervous wreck. i always knew when were going to get a bad storm because she would start pacing and panting.

My first Sheltie used to bark back at fireworks. Sheltie #2 goes right to his 'safe zone' in the bedroom or huddles up right next to me.

When I used to have a German Shepherd he was scared of thunder and fireworks. Currently have a African Grey Parrot that could care less, he is just curious.

More dogs disappear from home during 4th of July than any other day.

Thundershirts do help some as does de-sentising them with thunderstorm music.

My dog is fine with fireworks.  We had trained our dog from weeks old (via playing a cd of various sounds) to have a all different sounds, construction vehicles, fireworks, lawn mowers, etc... She seems to be very unresponsive to external sounds.
