Whether someone else has a side effect or not, should not matter. Each person reacts differently to exposure to vaccinations, situations, etc., so do what is best for your and your body. We all grew up without them, so if you do not want to get it, stand up for your right to choose. Good luck. It is not an easy topic these days.

if you are around babies you should. My daughter is in the health care industry and has to have it.

I ahven't had whooping cough since the early - mid 60s. It seems rare these days. i would consult your doctor about the vaccine.

I'm not sure, Sybill, but I do know that everytime I get a flu shot, well...I end up getting the flu. So..it's hard to know exactly what the side effects entail for other vaccinations. Maybe Google it or go to Webmd.com is a reliable source.

I have several friends who got the vaccination and they didn't have any problems.

I just read the information on several internet sites and did not see any warnings for adults getting this shot.

I don't know of anyone that has had one in years. Is there a reason she is having concerns?

Sharon Altier, SFR, My daughter is an RN and a new mom and she wants me to have it so I guess I will.
Tamra Lee Ulmer, that's a good idea, I'll check web MD or "ask a Nurse"
William Feela, that's true.
NIna, my daughter doesn't want to take a chance with Graham since I will be watching him some.
I'm glad you had no side effects Paul.
Chris and Dick, yes she is a first time mother at 37 so she is a little protective.

I don't do vaccinations--not for flu, not for whooping cough, not for anything. The only time I got seriously sick with the flu was 12 hours after the one and only flu vaccination I ever had.

One can only assume that your daughter is a new mother. Check WebMD or something like that but for most vaccinations it's usually a little redness and maybe a slight temp for a few hours. I'd do it.
