We lost an male agent in Washington about six years ago. At the time we were told by police that attacks on women end up in sexual assaults. With attacks on males usually end up in serious injuries or death. Not a good choice either way!

Yes! Always! .45 in my console, and a .380 that can easily fit in my waisteband. My agents and I also use "Find My Friends" App and keep each other in the loop as far as who and where we are meeting.

At this time I don't, but I plan to get a concealed carry permit in the future. In the meantime I think I will purchase pepper spray!

Yes I do... and I recommend everyone learn self defense tactics and carry a firearm or other weapon. With the right training you can not only protect yourself, but others too. I carry a concealed firearm not only on showings but 92.3% of the time.

Perhaps the best protection out there is not doing the Open House alone and being in contact with others that know where you are and use the cell phone to check in with your office more than once. Having some of the neighbors over for l-o-n-g visits is also fun and the time just vanishes. The key is that there is greater safety in numbers.

Some very cute answers mixed in mix. Got a chuckle from Noah Seidenberg .

Hank Dugie never thought of nor do I think I'll need it. I usually show homes to only people who I know.

No and I'm not sure I should. Afraid the perp would be able to get it from me and shoot me. I'm thinking of pepperspray would be better. Does anyone have any ideas on this

Yes, if I am showing vacant homes to someone I don't know or feel uncomfortable about, I am armed. Also if I am sitting an vacant open house, I carry. I am a decent shot and have had small arms training, I must as far as I am concerned. My 10 and 12 year old grand daughters know how to handle a gun and are very very accurate with it. I was raised around guns and taught how to defend myself. I may not win at my age, but my attacker will know he has been in a fight.

You bet, pepper spray and a 9. Listing and selling REO is not always for the faint of heart or those wanting a safe envoronment every day,

William Johnson Sharon Shepherd Robert Smith Nina Hollander Bill Dandridge I agree it's more about having a good process than anything else. Thank you for the comments! Happy Monday!

Frank Cash Noah Seidenberg Sham Reddy Andrew Mooers I should have known someone would think the "other" kind of protection, lol. Thanks for the comments, y'all. Happy Monday!

Yes, but more worried about dogs than people. Good processes weed out the bad guys most of the time. Fax of a pre-approval/checking nmls #/talking with agent. They should have complete personal info. Long gone are days of jumping in a car to meet a 'buyer'. I discourage open houses but if necessary I always have another guy with me.

Really not... but then I don't show homes to anyone I don't know, so it's never been an issue for me.

I don't carry him. He is able to walk all by himself. I have not ask what may be beneath that sport jacket.

I like this thread and Noah Seidenberg and Frank Cash 's comments. No funny business, mixing business with pleasure. Dipping the pen in company ink. The only protection is blank purchase and sale agreements on hand to fill out on the fly, or listing forms when your computer is not there to generate them in the willy wags. Live in the 4th lowest crime state. What is a locked door and strangers don't stay that way beyond a few hours.

I don't carry a gun, if that's what you mean. Pepper spray or stun gun is a bit safer for the agent.

It is difficult to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon in many areas.
I did carry when I was doing VA appraisals years ago in Virginia.
