I like the industry (albeit as a lender) because no matter what your strengths are, you can build a business around them. You are also forced to constantly improve. I like change, challenges, hard work, and being rewarded for it - this industry allows for it all. That and the freedom, I could never be stuck to a desk 9-5 M-F.
I have had several careers in my life and this includes ten years as a stay at home mom. I live in an extremely rural area where there aren't many job opportunities. I don't like punching a clock. I've always been interested in real estate. It was a natural choice for me.
Andrew, I ended up in real estate after taking early retirement from my flying career because I wasn't really qualified to do anything else!
I was always in public relations and advertising for large corporations and for myself. Always wanted to go into real estate starting in about mid 1970, then end 1980 and, finally, from 2006 it stuck and I haven't looked back. All the marketing and sales experience worldwide makes me fearless in the marketplace.
We were always interested in Real Estate, but chose different paths that eventually led us to being a successful Real Estate Team...and we are so glad we made the change!
I spent 20 years in the corporate world in corporate finance and earned aqn MBA in Finance. This taught me discipline, how to work with numbers in a deep and meaningful way, how to negotiation, and how to manage people.
