Gabe Sanders I think the gift card issue is becoming more and more prevalent, and especially over this past Christmas holiday.

I had it happen to me out of my own mailbox. I am using my business po box for my home mail now. Someone just went up the street taking everyones mail.

Not that I know of Joan Cox . But if I have to send something of value I will only do it with insurance and delivery confirmation.

Joan,

Happened to us when we lived in Napa.  We lived in a rural area, where the mailboxes were lined up by the road.  We got wind of it when someone applied for a car loan and we got a call from the car dealer. The individual had stolen information from the Social Security office. that came in the mail to us.  We reported to the Post office, and the police.  After that, no mail was ever stolen again.  We learned the post office has an investigative arm.  A

Once around Christmas, I thought it was stolen as the website said the item was delivered and it was not! However, the next day I did receive an item.

And off-late, waiting for a mail from someone I know, has not shown up after 10 days - though not sure if it is stolen.

I had sent the mail that was not received by someone - in a way, it was stolen.

I so seldom mail anything anymore, time to close down the postal service and force everyone to get email.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint there are times you need to send a gift card in the mail, and usually camouflage the envelope so the mailman does not know that is what it is.

Scott Godzyk that would be awful to have your mail stolen.   I have a cluster mailbox in my neighborhood, so the mail is pretty secure.

Ron & Alexandra Seigel I took the package into the post office AND the recipient has a cluster box so would have thought no problem....

Praful Thakkar that is exactly what happened here - it was delivered after 10 days.   The package looked like it had been dropped into water, and the address was smeared.

I don't like to send gift cards or money in invitation type envelopes.  They are easily spotted as possibly something of value.

Jeff Pearl I put a larger envelope with another item in the bubble envelope with a gift card sent 9 (delivery days) ago to VA and still has not arrived.    I have friends who sent gift cards this Xmas, and their recipients have not received them.

We never mail out from our mailbox on street. We take everything to PO. Delivery here is awful. We constantly get other peoples mail, and many things we are expecting never show up. We do as much as possible online now when it comes to paying bills.
