Hi, Noah...a lot has been asked and written about this. It use to be only ten comments a day you got credit for. I would like to see the limit raised back up to 20 per day. I think that encourages member involvement. I hope this happens. Don't worry...I still make WAY more than 10 comments a day, and like Santa, you are on my list. LOL.

Hi Noah - I was here when it was 10 points a day, and now it is back to 10. The issue is that many people game the system, and this is an effort to prevent that. I still comment more than 10 a day and it is more of the interaction than the points.

Noah, I've learned over and over and over again that life is not fair (LOL). As for getting points for 10 versus 20 comments a day ... I'm of the position that it is what it is.  Come the New Year I won't have the time to spend making 20-40 comments a day which is what I've been doing.  Crazy!

Noah Seidenberg ~ heck yes! Although, I think AR got it wrong verses unfair... I think a better word is "stupid"... But if AR wants less participation, then they will get what they want...

Noah, I admit I got used to getting points for up to 20 comments so ten seems awfully little.  I would be happy with 15.

I think things are getting changed often because they are trying/testing and adjusting.

A while back, participation was falling, so they tried 20 blog posts a week as a way to get more participation.  Personally, I thought from the get go that is was a mistake as it basically would (and did) lead to more garbage blog posts.  This did nothing to improve traffic to the site and created clutter to find good blog posts to comment on, and turned off a lot of quality bloggers who got annoyed and felt slighted.

Many then suggested increasing # of comments to increase participation.  I personally thought this was a smart move and it seemed to me that there was more participation and I got more subscribers and subscribed to many more, so anecdotally I thought it was good.  I think many others agree.

They may raise it back...or they may do bonus weeks.  I know there was a question in here from Kris Neese asking for feedback on this.  It was posted right after the update.  I would provide input there, if you haven't already.

Noah, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that points will be back for 20 comments sooner than later.  I'm reading a lot of dissatisfaction with this change.

Noah,

I see your point, and I still end up writing more than 10 comments a day.  A

BTW, I could argue it's unfair to all those people who have been here a long time (well before me) and they only got pts for 10/day and then all of us now temporarily got double.

I like the points, but in a way this is a bit freeing...now I can focus on other things and many of those things will have a much bigger impact on my biz.

Just food for thought.

I certainly don't think it's unfair.  We are all in the same boat, and it used to only be pt for 10 comments a day, even though I and many others made more than that.

I think it's a bit of a bummer for those working towards free membership, esp some of the newer members.  And, it will probably lead to a bit less interaction.

But, I wouldn't say it's unfair.

Also, BTW, AR said that when they went from pts from 10 to 20 comments, they said they didn't see a huge difference in # of comments.

I do not see anything wrong or unfair. It may be time to get on the phone to generate business rather than making more comments.

Yes, many of have been spending too much time with unproductive commenting.

Not sure why I'd call it unfair! The rules are known to us - and every one has to play by rule! (Originally, the limit was 10 comments per day anyways.)

Thanks Roy.

Honestly, I will not post more than 10 comments, unless it is on my own blog post to thank or answer. I like when the members with 1-2 mln suggest not to care about points:)

I do not mind the points for 10 comments. I always commented on more than 10 but did not expect points for them.

I think it generateed more comments for sure and more correspondence back and forth with fellow AR members. I'd vote to go back to 20 comments per day.

I've always made more than 10 comments a day, so it was never about the points. However,  I think it's an insult though to give only 10 points to ask a question and engage a discussion. I think no points for questions is better than a measly 10 points ~ just my 2 cents...

Noah,

It looks like its is a close call as I came back to read the results..  I don't like the concept of preventing gaming, someone who does that will find another way.  A

This may be a ridiculous question, but Noah Seidenberg what are the advantages of points?  I am pretty new to AR and do not have a Rainmaker account as of yet.  Aside from the different ranks, what are the other benefits?  Thanks:)

Glad about the reset to ten. Ten is manageable but twenty was unreasonable. Makes me try to crank them out daily again.

Hello again Noah,  Was thinking about your question after commenting.  I still am comfortable with my previous answer, along with this food for thought.  Active Rain is a business.  What kind of damage was being done to their $$$ with members receiving up to extra 1,750 points per week? and making 100,000 plateau's so much easier to reach.  Just saying.  Mark

Good evening Noah.  I would guess the powers that be make adjustments for what they feel will benefit Active Rain the most, which in turn hopefully is good for all of us.  Bottom line for me is that I gave myself one year in AR for active and consistent participation.  If at the end of that time I will question the value (new business) of AR.  The people are special.  That is tough for me to put any kind of price tag on.  As a side note I have had a few blogs before and never kept up.  What ever it is about AR I am consistently blogging.  That is what I came here to do.  So again the points are not the overall answer for me.  Mark

Just a quick note for Inna.  Those of us with 2 million points got them the old way with only 10 comments with points throughout the years it took us to accumulate them.
