Tammy,

I think coaches are important (and no, it is not what we do for a living).  The key is finding the right coach that suits  you,  and works for you.  The dollars invested can reap financial rewards and give you a new outlook and perspective on life.  Think of all the individual athletes who even though they have won many awards, still feel the importance of a coach.  A

There are many outstanding coaches and if you will follow their advice, you will be more successful. Few of us work to our full potential.

I completely agree w/ Diana Dahlberg .  I would also add that if it's early in your career, perhaps a mentor will help more.

Each of us has to recognize when we need help or guidance in our life or business.  If you need a coach I say yes!  The negative is that there is a monetary investment that must be considered, but if you have a good coach that investment should be paid back in dividends with the improvement in your life and/or business.

If I were just starting out and/or much younger, I would definitely try and find a coach that fits my style.

Seems like everyone is for the most part in favor of them. I find that mentorship is a version of coaching as well. Challenging each other. Finding a group of like minded folks that push you and challenging you will work wonders as well.  Good dialog!

Associates are generally self motivated although the business does bring about a lot of negativity at times. Understanding that and pushing through it is a challenge. Help comes in many shapes and sizes whether it's a pat on the back or a kick in the ass. Coaches can be relatively expensive depending on your needs and subject to their capabilities. Find one that compliments your desired result.

At the same time, with some experience and success comes a need to share the knowledge, do it! If you can help even one person to become better, you made a difference.

I already posted that, and with all respect to all, everyone seems calls herself/himself a mentor or coach these days:)
