I store them on my computer.
Nowadays, there are many - with Google photos being one.

Gloria, Yes, by all means; Instagram is for the most part for the younger crowd, though its growing and including more of older fuddy duddies... We will start to post our distressed asset joint ventures there, as well as making quick and fast YouTube videos, as on a former company, YouTub was the #1 direct traffic source, seen by millions.
Picasa, simple and easy to convert to video slide shows.
I use Box. Its free and easy to use across platforms. I take pictures with my phone, put them on my desktop of my PC with Box, add them to blogs, put contracts in PDF format in BOX and access at multiple locations, a great and easy to use program.
Depends on how you want to use them. If for a website & blog, you can get a $9 a month with hostgator.com or bluehost.com hosting to store them. You can make nice pages to show them and post the pics there. Heck, even a Wordpress blog will work, find a theme at theme forrest and you can easily post them there.
Otherwise Pinterest, Facebook, Google Plus are all good places besides Instagram. Good luck
Do you not have a website? You should be able to store any photos in that hosting package unless it's really small. Videos are sometimes too much for a regular package, but as long as there's not thousands of pictures, you should be able to.
Without that, one of the most beneficial places to put your pictures is on Pinterest. It benefits your website to have them on Pinterest with a description and a link to the website on each one of them. Looks really nice, too.
For your really good pictures, consider putting them on your Google Plus page. It's always good to add to your profile or business page there. I wouldn't just upload a bunch of junk, but putting the best ones on there with a description would be beneficial to your rankings with Google.
And of course, there's always Facebook. There seems to be no limit to the amount of pictures and videos you put on there. Each one does have a URL to link to, although I'm not sure that would work to display it on your site. You really need to have any pictures on your site STORED on your site files.
Hope this helps!
