My dad was a victim of real estate fraud when he signed the wrong documentation and gave away the property without knowing what he was doing. Fraud is a growing problem in many states. For example, in Philadelphia forged deeds is an increasing problem. The city records department now is informing property owners of real estate transactions registered with the city and gives owners opportunity to take action action after their property is transferred fraudulently. They notify current property owners and mail them a letter giving details of the transaction so they can verify the transaction.
