Get to Know Helen Ann Lloyd

The area I serve is Wildwood, New Jersey, a popular resort area on the Atlantic Ocean. Home to about 6,000 for much of the year, tourists and part-time residents swell the population to over 250,000 in the summertime. Drawn to the beaches, rides, and other activities in nearby Atlantic City and historic Cape May, vacationers, largely from North and Central New Jersey and Pennsylvania , love to spend warm summer days by the sea.

I am a listing/marketing specialist, particularly for vacation homes and second homes. I focus on working with sellers in a challenging market, and I specialize in finding solutions for distressed property sellers to prevent foreclosure. I saved 14 families from foreclosure in 2010, and I can help YOU!

I began my real estate career in 2005, after successfully creating an extensive personal real estate portfolio. I joined RE/MAX at the Shore in 2008, and it was without a doubt one of the best business decisions I've ever made! In 2010, I increased my business by 30% by hiring a support staff to help my business grow; in January 2011, I co-founded the Jersey Shore Home Selling Team. I plan to increase my business by at least another 50% during 2011.

Wildwood, New Jersey is part of a group of five municipalities, which are collectively known as the Wildwoods, all situated on the island of Five Mile Beach (a barrier island facing the Atlantic Ocean). A branch of the Algonquin Indians called the Lenni Lenapes, or Delawares, frequented Five Mile Beach long before it was officially settled. When the Indians departed, off-shore farmers used the land to graze their horses and cattle, ferrying the animals from the mainland on flatboats. Around 1870, a few fishermen became the first white settlers, erecting shacks at the north end of the island and naming their settlement Anglesea. In 1874 the government built a lighthouse at Hereford Inlet.

The story of modern Wildwood and her sister communities began in 1880, with a small group of wealthy families who purchased seashore homes on the island, eventually forming the Holly Beach City Improvement Company. In 1885, Holly Beach Borough was incorporated. Around the same time, another group organized just north of Holly Beach, forming the Wildwood Beach Improvement Company; this led to the incorporation of the Borough of Wildwood in 1895. In 1912, Holly Beach and Wildwood consolidated as the City of Wildwood.

The area continued to develop as a resort, but experienced a building boom in the 1950's and 60's.
