I don't need buyers or sellers. I work for free for my brother. I'm just an old semi-retired DOS hog. My experience with computer hardware and software goes back to 1984. I learned Basic language in a few weeks and wrote my first two programs. One was a maze, the other, a pretty good Dungeon Master.
I have built systems from piles of junk parts and won bets to see a C:\> prompt. I have never once had a computer problem that I could NOT fix one way or another. I have built them all 8088, 8086, 286, 386, 486, and most of the Pentium systems. I can determine most parts by touch. I have programmed sucessufully with Basic, QBasic, COBOL I & II, C, C++, HTML, Javascript, and a few more.
I do NOT do much with Apple machines, although I have dabbled in some of the graphics proggys.
My experiences are many. Adminstrative Assistant to Chief Operations, Marketing Director, Advertising Director, Head of Security for a Retail outlet, 3rd Level Tech Support for a major printer and computer parts company, Major Account Manager for Printer
Parts, Network Administrator, Database Designer, BBS owner/operator, Website Designer. Whew! Sounds like a lot, but some of these experiences were simply because I can wear many hats at one time and still streamline and profit in any business. I can sell you a widget. It's in my blood. 75% of my brothers are all sucessful sales people.
I opened my first business in 1994 and developed many software packages designed for small businesses. The little guy who couldn't afford $36,000 for software, but still needed custom solutions. We also provided the computers at cost. Since I built them from new parts, we were able to sell them for about $500 saving our customers thousands. My partner and I designed software for the little 2 car garages you see everywhere, fixing cars, tires, etc. We developed a dirt racing package for the northeastern dirt racing circut which wound up selling a copy or two in other countries thanks to the early internet. Our teams finished in the top 3 almost every week and won championships everywhere including the Eastern States in Middletown, NY four or five years in a row we finished 1,2,3. earning us a three page layout in a national racing magazine. At the same time we got introduced to Human Resources companies and developed one of the first, if not the first, keyword matchup software bringing together employers and potiential employees in a matter of seconds rather than spend hours going through those old filing cabinets. I found it amusing when Windows came out and they called directories "Folders". It certainly made explaining Hard Drives much easier.
One of my earliest claims to fame was selling 2 memory sticks to ILM (industrial Light & Magic) at $150,000 per chip. Two weeks later, I sold laptop parts to Big Bird on site in Baltimore, MD. :)
