Steve began his real estate career in 2007 and hit the ground running obtaining the New Comber Award his first year and he hasn’t slowed down since.
After spending 12+ years as a General Manger in the hospitality field, Steve took many of the skills and principles learned to follow his long time passion into a career in real estate. Steve continuously focuses on his craft and has been recognized each year in business with a sales and service award as a multi-million dollar producer.
Steve obtained his Massachusetts Brokers license in 2011, his New Hampshires Brokers License in 2013, and designations such his GRI, e-PRO, REALTOR, and a Home staging Certificate.
Being drawn to the coast at an early age while living in Western Massachusetts, Steve always knew he would end up on the Seacoast. Fortunate enough to have lived in and around Portsmouth and Newburyport, Steve couldn’t be happier to call the Seacoast his home. Steve prides himself on connecting with his clients , building a trust based relationship, and providing his clients the attention and dedication they deserve.
Steve loves to volunteer and support local and National causes such as Big Brothers / Big Sisters, The Rotary Club, and others. Most recently Steve completed two 10+ mile obstacle courses, The Bone Frog Challenge in 2014 and The Tough Mudder in 2013 to support Wounded Warriors.
Steve is an active member of the Seacoast Board of Realtors®, New Hampshire Association of Realtors®, Greater Newburyport Board of REALTORS, Massachusetts Board of REALTORS, and National Association of Realtors®.
I work with buyers, sellers and investors in Franklin and Hampshire County.

| We were beyond lucky to have been referred to Steve for our home buying experience. Not only is he extremely knowledgable but he will work hard to make sure you are getting a fair deal and will always go to bat for you. | We had a terrific experience with Stephen Oates. If you are looking for a realtor who knows the area, knows the property, has connections with a variety of vendors (lenders, insurance agents, etc.), Stephen is the person you want to work with. He thought of things related to the sale of the residence that we had not. He is professional, timely, thorough and thoughtful. Hands down the best home purchase experience we have had (on our third residence). |

| We came into the process late and the previous buyers recommended we work with their buyers' agent. We were glad we did - it took the stress out of negotiations, provided us with vary good information throughout the process, expedited paperwork with the mortgage lender and resulted in our working with an excellent lawyer who streamlined the closing process and addressed all of our requirements for a successful purchase. We were very pleased with Stephen Oates' work on our behalf and would recommend him both to residential buyers and sellers and those involved in purchasing commercial properties as well. We valued his prompt and accurate responses to our requirements as well as his patience and knowledge. Our purchase was a large farm and farmhouse in the country - Stephen has moved on to now work by the sea, and we know that his love of the coast coupled with his skill will very well serve the folks who live and want to live by the ocean, just as he helped those of us who are happy by a woodland pond! | Working with Steve was a great experience. He worked very hard to find a match for us. The more houses he showed us, the better his understanding of what we were looking for became apparent to him. In the end, he found the perfect house for us. I felt that he went above and beyond to help us, giving us guidance through the process and was a great "go between" for us in regards to the seller and lawyer. | Steve recently helped my husband and I to sell a house and assisted me in buying a house, all on the same day! This is not an easy feat, and I wouldn't recommend doing it this way! Steve was able to provide resources for attorneys in the area, and inspectors, to help in the selling and buying tasks. He provided excellent counsel when it came to setting the price and negotiating with potential buyers and their agents. We couldn't have done it without Steve. He was steady, professional, and honest with us throughout the entire process. He was positive and helpful and always responded quickly to our questions or needs.
