When I started a manufacturing company back in 1994 I thought owning and operating a company would be a cinch. I had spent a large portion of my adulthood working for various manufacturing companies and could do everything from reading blueprints to unloading steel trucks. I had handled phone orders to dealing with customer complaints, so I felt there wasn't any part of running a small business I couldn't handle. So off I went on the biggest adventure of my life, I found a building to operate from, bought equipment, ordered raw materials and hired employees. Everything was set or so I thought. It suddenly occured to me I had forgotten the one most important part of owning a business, the customers. It took a lot of trial and error on where to spend advertising dollars and much time spent at advertising  seminars sponsored by the local chanber of commerce  to get the phones ringing but the orders did come in and I enjoyed a sucessful career in manufacturing up to the time I decided to take a change in careers in 2005.

With the manufacturing company I spent at least 50 percent of my time in sales and soon found that I enjoyed promoting my product and meeting with people more than actually building the product. So after I decided to close the doors on manufacturing I knew where my heart was, it was in sales, and since I am quite active in community service and active with church involvement I felt that my talents would be best served by helping the real estate community. Now going into my 5th year in real estate I know this is where God wants me to be and where I can use those talents by helping both the young couple buying their first home to the home owners looking to step up from the home their family has outgrown. One of the great things with being in real estate is that the market is constantly changing and there is always something new just around the corner. Everyday in this career is a learning experience and with ActiveRain it is great to be able to network with such a talented community of real estate professionals.
