Get to know Ted Jernigan

The team was formed in 1999 when I joined my wife Suzanne in her Real Estate business. I had spent 25 years in marketing, advertising and public relations with a very large high technology company. Before that I was a hardware and software technician in the military and in industry. In 2000, Suzanne's son (my stepson) joined our team from a sales counselor position with a major Texas home builder. Combined we have almost 50 years of experience in residential real estate sales and marketing. We have a unique set of skills that we call upon to help our customers with their real estate needs. Each of us has a different experience base, and we try to leverage that experience to the advantage of our customers whether they are buying or selling resale property or new construction.

My technical background makes me the computer consultant for the group in this increasingly high tech, real estate world. We all use state of the art telecommunications and computer equipment. Derick uses his knowledge of new home sales to help our clients get their dream home when buying new construction. Suzanne is our master negotiator who tries to insure that we are communicating clearly with our clients and with any agent representing the other party in a transaction. She also draws on her years of experience and hundreds of transactions to examine every possible alternative when a sale or purchase becomes complicated. We consult with each other at such times as well.

In this high tech world we live in, everyone expects to have questions answered immediately. If they do not get a response they move on to the next information source. We have a goal of answering clients calls in real time. We only publish cell phone numbers on our marketing materials and yard signs. If you call one of us while we are with another client you may have to wait for a call back or you can go to the next person on our team. If a property is listed with us then the seller always knows how to reach us quickly. Buyers responding to one of our web sites, ads or yard signs should get to speak to one of us almost immediately.

I have lived in McKinney, Texas since it was a town of 15,000 in 1987 until today when it is estimated to have more than 120,000 inhabitants and believed by many sources to be the fasted growing city in the nation. Derick had the honor of selling a home to the family that according to the city was the 100,000th resident three years ago.

All three team members moved to McKinney in 1987. Based in Collin County we concentrate there, but also do business in Grayson, Fannin, Denton, Rockwall, Dallas and Hunt counties. Our primary focus is on helping clients buy and sell residential real estate, but we also list and sell raw land, farms and ranches in North Texas.  In addition to the city of McKinney, we list and sell properties in neighborhoods in Frisco, Allen, Prosper, Anna, Melissa, Little Elm, Farmersville, Princeton, and Van Alstyne to name a few. Each year we help several people who are relocating to North Texas and are unsure where exactly to locate. We provide comprehensive overviews of the area showing the clients representative neighborhoods and properties in the area to help them decide which community best meets their needs. We follow this with in depth looks at individual communities and subdivisions that meet buyer's needs to help narrow the search.

We also have a lot of long term repeat customers. Buyers frequently call upon us to keep an eye open for a specific type of home in a particular neighborhood. This process can sometimes take several years. We are getting quite a few requests from younger clients to up grade and up size their homes as their families grow. Many people are moving here from other parts of the country to be near adult children and grandchildren. Many of these are downsizing from a home where they raised their families. These moves present special challenges.
