Get to Know Peter Pike

I have spent most of the last 25 years working in the Real Estate industry.  When I graduated from St. John's University School of Law, I was immediately hired as in-house counsel to Public Equities Corp., a large mortgage bank, located on Long Island, New York.  At Public Equities, I learned the ins and outs of mortgage lending and title closings.  Striking out on my own in 1985, I began a law career in New York, representing buyers, sellers, lenders and title insurers of residential and commercial real estate as well as small businesses involved a variety of commercial transactions.  As the real estate market grew through the mid to late 1980's, I began teaching broker and agent courses at the Long Island Real Estate Training Institute.

In 2002, I decided that it was time to move away from the hustle and bustle that was New York, and try to enjoy life a little, in a corner of the world that was still relatively unknown in New York. Okay, really, my ex-wife invited me to find a new place to sleep at night, so I packed up and moved to Destin, Florida, where he met Richard and Demetria McNeese.  The real estate market was booming, and McNeese Title  needed help in getting files closed.  Pitching right in, I carved out a place with the company, becoming its Clearance Officer and In-House Counsel, after receiving extensive training in title searching and title issues.

Over the last couple of years, I have been kept busy, giving seminars on surviving in this real estate market, including how to handle and invest in short sales, REO's and foreclosures, as well as on keeping up to date with changes in the real estate industry.

In June of 2010, I accepted a position with Attorneys' Title Fund Services, LLC, as their Legal & Branch Education Manager.  I am in charge of two Legal Education Attorneys and one Branch Educator, who, together with me, deliver over 150 seminars each year to Attorneys and other Real Estate Professionals doing business in the state of Florida, as well as training programs for internal employees of The Fund.

In September, 2014, I accepted an offer to return to private practice, in order to open the Sarasota branch office of Myron E. Siegel, P.A., a Florida law firm that concentrates its practice in Real Estate Law.  Through our title company, Guaranteed Florida Title, we have the resources to provide settlement and title insurance services throughout Florida. Our law firm provides all forms of real estate transactional work, including representation of lenders, buyers and sellers; representation of developers of residential communities and commercial spaces; commercial lease negotiations, representation of homeowners, condominium and co-op associations.

I am Board Certified in Real Estate Law in the state of Florida.  This means that I have devoted a major percentage of my practice to real estate law, been vetted as to professionalism and passed a grueling test of real estate legal knowledge.  Less than 10% of eligible attorneys are board certified in the state of Florida.

I am also licensed by the state of Florida to teach continuing education courses for credit to real estate agents and brokers.
