I got in to real estate in 1981 when everyone was getting out. The market was flooded with foreclosures and interest rates were climbing to 18 and 19 percent. I bought my first house in 1985 and thought that 13.5% interest was a bargain. It was a great market to "cut my teeth" on. Learning to market homes for sellers in that market and helping buyers steal foreclosures was quite an education.
The similarities to todays' market are uncanny. Now is the time to sell IF you are moving up. If you wait to make more money on your current home you will pay quite a bit more for the bigger home. Now is the time to buy if you are renting with interest rates and home prices at extreme lows. You truly can buy a home with payments less than apartment rent rates.
Believe it or not, most of the good buys today are selling within days with multiple bids. In this market you need an agent who knows the current statistics and values. I not only keep track of that every day I also know most of the agents on the other end.
My two areas of expertise are an aggressive marketing program for sellers and an intimate knowledg of the foreclosure and HUD bid processes. You will not find anyone who will work harder or more professionaly to help you meet your real estate goals.
