Get to Know Michael Merino

I am a family man and Father of three children, located in the south-western suburb of Oak Forest, Illinois.  I enjoy my kids, sports, World War II history, humor, and knowledge.  I am one who likes to have fun as I work, and I bring my sense of humor with me everywhere I go.  I got my work ethic from my Father; "If your going to do something, do it right".  As a matter of fact my Dad is my hero.  My other hero is my wife.  I am a better man because of her.  I thank her for the love and support she has provided me.

I am a member of InterNACHI, the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors; and a candidate in NICASHI, the Northern Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspector. I am licensed by the State of Illinois through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as a Home Inspector and as a Home Inspector Entity.

I service all cities and areas in the following counties: Cook, Dupage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Kankakee, and Will.

Illinois Home Inspector License 450.010091

I believe in customer service.  I know everyone says they provide "customer service"; but I believe in anticipating the needs and expectations of my clients; then meeting and exceeding them.  I am here for my clients.  I perform the inspection at your convenience, not mine.  If I am scheduled at the same time that you desire your inspection, I will do everything I can to accommodate your need.  If I can't perform your inspection, I will help you find an inspector who mirrors my work ethic and values to perform the inspection.

I am all about educating my clients. I am not an alarmist.  There is no defect-free house, and I let my clients know this.  It is all about educating them about the defects.  I use the FOG rule; Fact, Opinion, Guidance.  Fact: is the defect, Opinion: the issues involved with the defect, Guidance: what can be done to resolve the defect.

I am a very good communicator, verbally and written.  My reports are narrative and contain full explanations of all defects with digital photos ; NEVER in a check list format. They can be delivered electronically, by mail or fax.
