Get to Know Kate Grondin
I am a social worker and founder of Home Transition Resource, a full-service senior move management company based in Andover, MA, serving Greater Boston, Northeastern Massachusetts, including the Merrimack Valley, and Southern New Hampshire. Senior Move Managers assist older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of downsizing, relocating or simply aging in place. I help to minimize the stress and chaos associated with moving by addressing all aspects of the move process. I also help grieving families whose responsibility it is to sort through and dispose of an estate after the loss of a loved one. HTR is a fully insured and bonded company.
I graduated from Simmons College School of Social Work in Boston, MA, where I earned a Master of Social Work degree. I spent my social work career as a hospital social worker providing crisis intervention, family support and discharge planning at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. My sensitivity to the needs of seniors dates back to childhood when from about the age of 10, I volunteered at the local nursing home on Sundays with my mother. I feel as though my ability to work with seniors is a gift, and I'm passionate about what I do.
I am a "friendly visitor" thru the Andover Senior Center, and am on the task force of a start-up NORC (Naturally Occuring Retirement Community) designed to help seniors continue to live in their own homes and age in place. I am also a member of NASMM (National Association of Senior Move Managers) and NCOA (National Council on Aging).

Evaluate Housing Options - Based on life-style, family, finances, and health considerations. Develop a Moving Plan - Based on the scope of work and time frame for the move...provide week by week to do list. Declutter and Organize (Downsize) - Sort through personal belongings and make decisions regarding their dispersal. Liquidate - Help maximize revenue through various options from on-line and estate sales to professional dealers and auctions. Coordinate Moving Day - Contract movers, transfer or disconnect services, organize and pack, ship items, supervise. Cleaning - to prepare your house for the market and/or final clean Upgrade - Coordinate necessary home improvements and minor repairs in preparation for sale of home. Home Staging - Utilize expertise in redecorating the home to make it appealing to potential buyers for a faster sale. Unpack and Set Up - Stock ones refridgerator, unpack, and arrange surroundings for comfort upon residents arrival.
