His low pressure style worked well with us: he didn't try to 'up sell' or hurry the buying process. He was patient with us, allowing us to see as many homes as we wanted. During the home tours he was candid about the home, pointing out positives and negatives, often pointing out things that we didn't see. One thing to keep in mind when working with Jim is that you, the buyer, must be clear and assertive in what you are looking for. In out opinion, Jim's style works best with someone who asks questions of Jim and stays actively involved in the buying process. He's clearly a professional and has a high degree of expertise. However, if you're the kind of person who expects a lot of 'hand holding' through the sales process, you may find Redfin and Jim to be a confusing and, possibly, frustrating. Overall, Jim did a great job of helping us find the home we wanted, while allowing us to be active participants in the home buying process. But, i did not really get as much help as i expected from Redfin at the most important time during the home buying process. I had to evaluate and come up with comparables in the neighborhood and determine what is a good price for the house. The comparables that Jim's agent gave me were 30K high than my comparables and her comparables were not even a close match to the house. It was like trying to find houses in the entire NW suburbs that fit the asking price of the house. I was very much disappointed there. Jim later agreed that my comparables fit best to this house. I expected to get more help from Redfin than merely acting as a middleman between the seller and me. Carie Cox was an awesome agent though. I would give her a complete 10 on 10. She was the one who scheduled the tours from my second tour to this house and she was very very helpful.
