As both a landlord and an attorney, I focus my practice on real estate law issues. I have been a landlord for a decade with over 34 properties and during that time I have learned a solutions-based approach is invaluable. As an attorney, I work with clients with the same philosophy--to prevent problems before they happen and to remedy issues quickly and inexpensively.
Here are some organizations that I am involved with:
Little Rock Landlords Association, President 2009
National Association of Residential Property Managers, Affiliate Member and Affiliate of the Year 2008
Arkansas Apartment Association, Affiliate Member
Pulaski County Bar Association
Arkansas Bar Association
Presbyterian Village Board of Directors
Presbyterian Village Foundation Board of Directors
As a landlord for nearly a decade with 34 rental properties (single family and multi-family), I have learned from personal experience a solutions-based approach to landlord tenant issues. As an attorney with a practice primarily focused on real estate law, I represent property management companies, apartment complex owners, property owners associations and landlords generally.
With regard to landlord tenant law, here are some items I handle regularly:
1) Evictions, 2) Review of leases for compliance with Arkansas law, 3) Review of form documents for real estate agents for compliance with the Real Estate Commission's Rule 10 attorney review requirement, 4) Fair Housing Complaints and prevention, and general landlord-tenant law issues.
With regard to real estate generally, here are some items I handle:
1) Asset protection; developing a good corporate structure to limit your liability, 2) 1031 like kind exchanges to defer having to pay capital gains taxes on a transaction, 3) quiet title actions, 4) residential and commercial leases, and general real estate law issues.
