Born and Raised in Washington State.
Traveled to all 50 states (achieved in 2012) and all the southern provinces of Canada from New Brunswick west to British Columbis as well as several countries in Europe.
Co-creator and co-head coach of a Special Olympic Alpine ski team for ten years. I am still connected to my athletes and their families.
Former musician that played, wrote and recorded for over 17 years. (It's embarrassing how those skills have slipped!)
I enjoy hiking and running and all that the Wenatchee Valley has to offer.
Started off as a roofer when I was 17 and been around the construction trade most of my life. I built my own home in 2002 and have done several remodels and repairs over the years. I work with logs and have done my own wood milling (black walnut mostly, love that wood).
I have been working with a partner building our own portable log mill, a band-saw style. More wood working to come!
I am a graduate of the Bellingham Technical College "Fundamentals of Home Inspection" course. This is a premier course in the home inspection profession and one of Washington State's first approved curricula. I am a certified InterNachi member.
I am a Certified HazMat Technician and Medical First Responder with over 20 years experience with a firm knowledge in Biological, Chemical and Radiological hazards, assessment and remediation. As a HazMat responder it is critical to have keen observation skills, knowledge and critical thinking to ensure the safety of people and the environment while re-mediating the incident as quickly as possible. I believe these skill sets assist me in the Home Inspection profession.

NCW Home Inspections was very thorough and knowledgeable about codes and regional norms in the building and real estate industry. The report on line was detailed with plenty of photographs. This was very helpful since we are relocated from the Southeast and could not be present for the inspection. Don Hester emailed a full PDF in short order after completing the inspection. The thermography technology is an additional service I had used on other purchases that can be very helpful in finding problems that may be hidden. The follow up to answer questions and discuss the inspection was very helpful as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Don Hester and NCW Home Inspections.
Don Hester handled the inspection for the condo I wished to purchase. He had to handle it for me remotely, since I am not in the area. Therefore he coordinated with my son who is. Both my son and I (and the real estate agent) were highly impressed by the care he took and the suggestions he made. The thoroughness of the inspection was superb. The details he included, and the logic explaining what he described, was of great help to me in getting back to the seller for remediation, and, especially since I wasn't there to look in more detail myself, greatly relieved my apprehension about any problems that there might have been which would have come back to haunt me after the sale. I would most highly recommend Don to anyone who needs a thorough, professional inspection.
Don Hester conducted a thorough inspection and produced an excellent report for our recently purchased house. The inspection required over 4 hours and addressed all aspects of the house. Don was able and willing to focus on specific questions and concerns I had about the house. He was very professional and clearly answered my questions. I was particularly impressed by his willingness to spend approximately an hour in the house’s cramped crawl space to ensure a thorough inspection of that critical area. The report was very comprehensive and clearly written with illustrations and pictures taken during the inspection to illustrate points. It also has information link throughout describing products to address problems and procedure for long term maintenance. The report definitely helped with short term decisions to purchases the house and will be a valuable resource document in the future. I highly recommend Don. M Werner
When Don is done with a home inspection my clients feel like they know their home from top to bottom. After the transaction is complete he is happy to answer any questions that come up. He provides a detailed report that is easy to work with and reference. My clients find he is a good source to call upon for advise if an issue does arise with their home. He has reputable contacts other for service providers in the area too. He is a wealth of information. I am always pleased with his professionalism and pleasant attitude. It is a pleasure to work with someone as knowledgeable as Don. I highly recommend Don and am grateful to have such an enthusiastic home inspector!
Don was very easy to work with. We appreciated his willingness to accommodate our tricky schedules so we could be present for the inspection. He was thorough and knowledgeable and he provided us with a detailed written report that we have been glad to have as a reference as we become familiar with and make improvements to our new home. He included a useful list of qualified [plumbing, electrical, etc.] professionals in the area for us to contact for further service, if desired. We were pleased to have the opportunity to work with Don.
Don is incredibly knowledgeable and provided a great service to us as first time home buyers. We purchased an older home and Don did a very thorough inspection that provided us with a good understanding of what we were getting into. Don spent 4-5 hours performing the inspection and answered all our questions. He's friendly, detail oriented and I highly recommend his services.
