Community Financial Resource Center (CFRC) is a certified nonprofit 501c CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) that has been providing financial resources and services to underserved communities throughout Los Angeles County for 15 years.

CFRC provides a unique, rewarding experience that is hard to duplicate. We pride ourselves in being a "full-service one-stop-shop" for all buyers and homeowners, especially first-time homebuyers.

As exclusive administrator of the Los Angeles Teachers Mortgage Assistance Program (LATMAP), LAUSD's homeownership and real estate services program, we help teachers, administrators, educators and employees buy homes through our one-stop-shop of resources and referrals. We have a growing network of lenders, banks and professional real estate agents - including National City Mortgage, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Prudential, Century 21, private brokers and home inspectors among others.

Because we specialize in the 'information' aspect of the homeownership we relieve the burden for realtors, mortgage brokers, and lenders of over extending themselves as they prepare a client for the loan. Our comprehensive 8 and 12 hour workshops are taught by NeighborWorks certified Housing Counselors. Our certificates are also recognized by the State of California, County of Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles and other cities within Los Angeles proper.

As an added benefit we offer refinancing and other 1st mortgages under our Savvy, Sound & Safe Home Loan Program (SSSHLP). These flexible fixed rate and fair products allow borrowers with compromised credit scores to refinance or purchase, without being penalized. We can do this because our loans allow alternative lines of credit. This program has been popular among LAUSD employees and teachers.

Certifications
Savvy, Sound & Safe - As a homeownership provider we adhere to a high level of service and ethics. Among our affiliations we count the Fair Mortgage Collaborative, NeighborWorks, HACLA (Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles), and Opportunity Finance Network/Opportunity Mortgage Network among others. Giving sound, transparent and honest finance options to informed borrowers is the foundation of our business.

We Don't Sell Loans, We Offer Alternatives -  We are in the loan business because we want to provide alternatives and solutions for borrowers who normally would either be left out of the homebuying experience or remain a target to abusive and predatory lending. For this reason, our products offer more flexible qualifying guidelines for low and moderate income borrowers.

Help for Educators - We created LATMAP with LAUSD to help narrow the affordability gap between average incomes for educators and average home prices in Southern California. Three years later we have helped hundreds of teachers and professional educators achieve homeownership. A majority of our clients are teachers and administrators, mainly because we are the official homeownership services and resource for all of LAUSD. Through our partners homebuyers benefit from government-backed loan programs (such as CalHFA, Extra Credit Teacher Program, HOP, ADDI, LAHD, MCC) and private bank programs designed to fulfill the financing needs of educators and public employees.

A "People person" Agency - Because we're nonprofit, we can afford to spend time with our clients, guiding them through the homebuying process without the pressure to committ to any plan or product. And since some of our partners were former educators themselves, they know how to make your first home purchase less intimidating.
