Welcome to my Franklin TN Homes Blog
I am Tammie White, Franklin TN REALTOR® and Principal Broker/Owner of Franklin Homes Realty LLC. I have been selling real estate in Williamson County, Tennessee since 2007.
In 2009, I began writing this real estate blog to better serve buyers and sellers who were interested in the Franklin housing market. Since that time, I have written almost 2,500 articles about the ins and outs of real estate in Franklin, Tennessee.
Consumers have proven they hunger for more information about the buying and selling process. I responded by opening an independent brokerage in 2015 dedicated to Franklin TN real estate. My website, www.FranklinHomesRealty.com attracts buyers throughout the country who are looking to relocate to Franklin.
GET REAL. GET LOCAL.
Real estate is local. Local to each state, each county, each city and even each neighborhood. That is the type of information I have worked to provide to buyers and sellers over the last several years. You will find information here about Franklin TN neighborhoods, businesses, events and the buying and selling of Franklin real estate.
Consumers have become much more adept to what's happening in the housing market. They want information--information that is often difficult to find about the market they wish to buy or sell. I have worked to bridge the gap so you feel fully informed; about Franklin, the housing market, and the buying and selling process.
Franklin TN: The Small Town I'd Always Dreamed Of
When I was growing up I lived in a little "bedroom community" in Illinois called Carpentersville. There really weren't any retail businesses or restaurants there. Hence, the term "bedroom community."
Just a short distance away was the town of Dundee. It had a cute little downtown area. The library was in an old victorian house built in the late 1800's. I would spend hours just purusing the book shelves. I loved that place. I hoped to live in Dundee one day. It was always a dream to own a home in that town. That never came to be.
The years passed and I eventually met and married my husband. He was already living in Bartlett and was required to own a home there as a municipal employee. Although Bartlett began as a railroad town in the 1800's, there was no cute little downtown area. It was also a "bedroom community."
I would frequently visit St. Charles, Geneva and Wheaton. I would go to farmers markets, quaint little shops and local bistros to fill that yearning in my heart of living in a quaint little historic town. The years passed and I happily raised my family in our bedroom community.
In 2005, my husband took an early retirement. We decided to sell our house, most of our belongings and bought an RV. The plan was to travel the country for a year and then settle in a new area. An area that didn't have the harsh winters of Chicago.
My husband had done a lot of research about various parts of the country. The plan was to live in a southern state that still had four seasons but mild winters. Some of the towns that made the list were Asheville NC, Charlottesville VA and Knoxville TN. I, however, had done a little research of my own and Franklin TN was at the top of the list.
As we traveled the country, we visited 39 states. We live in a great country. There is so much to see and do. If you ever get the chance to travel in this manner, do it. You won't regret it.
When we hit Asheville NC, my husband was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, Asheville is a beautiful area. It just wasn't what we were looking for. We tried Charlottesville. Still not right. Then on to Knoxville. That was a bust, too.
We were making our way to the Nashville area. We stayed at a little RV park in Goodlettesville. One day, I suggested we make a trip to Franklin for the day. My husband made it very clear, "We are not going to live in Franklin. It's out of our budget." But he agreed, it was worth the visit.
As we pulled into historic Franklin TN, I knew we'd found our home. The town I had always wanted to live in was right before my eyes. It was everything a historic downtown should be. From the monument in the square, to the old Courthouse, to the quaint shops and eateries. My husband parked the car turned to me and said, "This is it! We've found our home." That was in 2006. We haven't regretted a day since.
There's not a week that goes by without a visit to historic downtown Franklin. On Saturday mornings, I especially like to take a trip to the Franklin Farmer's Market. People come from miles around to buy fruits, vegetables and wonderful baked goods. You'll even find local artisans selling jewelry and whatnot. Then it's on to Merridee's Breadbasket for a sticky bun or scone. You'll always run into someone you know here as it's the most popular place to be on a Saturday morning.
With four grandchildren, Main Street Toys is a regular stop. I could spend hours there. They have a wonderful collection of windup toys. You'll find the most unusual things. It reminds me of my childhood everytime I walk in the door.
There are so many things to do in Franklin TN; from shopping, to dining, to enjoying good music, to historical walking tours. Several times a year, Franklin hosts various festivals.
You'll find everything at the Franklin TN Festivals from Wine Down Main Street to Pumpkinfest to a Dickens of a Christmas. The Franklin Theatre recently reopened and the town hosted a special event in honor of that occasion. These events are always well attended--many visited by thousands of people.
On evenings, you'll find people walking up and down Main Street. Most of the retail businesses close at five. But there are several restaurants and three ice cream parlors, not to mention the Franklin Theatre offering movies and live events. There is something for everyone in Franklin.
Historic Franklin TN is the small town I'd always dreamed of. Actually, it's more than I'd ever dreamed of. I'm happy to say, "I love living in Franklin TN."
