Doug Johnson puts the service in full-service real estate agent. This man of many talents is definitely someone who buyers and sellers need on their team. An experienced house flipper and home inspector originally from south Alabama, this housing professional brings a myriad of skills to the table. Doug is an outgoing agent who shares his enthusiasm for this industry with everyone he meets. And on top of everything, his clients get the bonus of an additional agent, Doug's wife, Patty.

This detail-oriented agent graduated from the University of South Alabama. Here he majored in graphic design and minored in marketing, providing him a solid foundation to effectively market real estate. Doug worked in both of these fields for more than 15 years, before becoming a children's minister. Here, his compassion and understanding for others increased. He also began flipping homes around this time. Doing most of the improvements himself, he gained a wealth of knowledge with each property he acquired, renovated and sold. His creativity allows him to look at what a property can become, not just the condition it happens to be in currently.

Going into the home inspection business was the next move for Doug. He bought a home inspection franchise, and ran it successfully for five years. As the owner, everything was on his shoulders. "I had to develop a business from the ground up, and market myself so people would want me to do their home inspections," Doug says. His determination and commitment paid off, earning him several awards in this competitive field. He even became one of the nation's top 10 producers within the organization. But these days he shares what he's learned with his clients, whether they're buying, building or selling homes in Hampton Roads. "I like helping people, and want to make their lives better anyway I can." And for Doug, helping people comes naturally in the world of real estate.

"I'm open to go in, and help sellers for free," Doug adds, "I donate my time. If they'll buy the materials, I'll help them do whatever they need to do to get their house ready to market." This agent is a rare find indeed. Clients get a wealth of experience when house hunting with this former home inspector. "I know what pitfalls to avoid, and can see things that may not be readily noticeable to the average homebuyer." While he assists many types of clients, he likes helping those new to home buying. "I really love working with young people and folks who are buying their first homes," Doug continues, "Patty and I have a way of educating buyers, and making the process smooth." He loves working alongside his partner, wife and best friend. Having a son who served in the U.S. Marine Corps makes him more understanding of service members and their families looking for new homes.

Being an agent hasn't stopped Doug from one of his favorite pastimes- attending weekend open houses. He just brings an even sharper eye, and looks out for what his clients may want. This outdoorsman likes hunting and sports, especially college football; he is also known to play a practical joke every so often. Passions include his relationships with God, family and friends. Doug lives with his wife and family in their Suffolk home.
