Doug Bigelow currently is the Vice President and one of two principal owners of Legacy Settlement Services located in Frederick, Maryland. He has been the Director of Sales and Marketing for the past 7 years with one of the most nationally respected and well managed title companies in the state of Maryland and in the Mid Atlantic. While there, his responsibility included ensuring that the AfBA arrangements the company handled were handled according to HUD regulations as RESPA compliant. He has conducted well over 2000 real estate closings, many of which have fallen within the Frederick County borders.
Doug currently conducts real estate education classes for realtors and mortgage originators and was instrumental in organizing his past company in obtaining instructional status within the State of Maryland to offer continuing education for realtors. Doug was also instrumental on Capitol Hill with the United States government in unveiling the American Land Title Associations (ALTA) homeclosing101.org website and consumer initiative. That initiative has been adopted nationally by many insurance underwriters and large settlement organizations. He has been a member of various organizations such as RESPRO, GCARR, MLTA, ALTA and FCAR. Currently Doug is pushing electronic closings within the state of Maryland and has met with State Officials to expedite the process to increase the efficiency for home consumers and lessen the home ownership burden to many. Doug has a strong vision for Legacy Settlement Services and looks forward to working with the community again.
