Gardening Tips www.examiner.com Carol Green    Although the car windows still need scraping, it isn't too soon to plan this year's garden spot. Our mild summer temperatures lend an opportunity for a productive family garden. More produce in the yard means more fiber and nutrients on the plate. Boost the garden output and you'll boost your healthy intake. The moderate exercise associated with caring for a garden is a great by product. Whether you are already a master gardener or just beginning to get your hands wet (or your thumbs green), now is the time to plan. Cold weather vegetables such as beets, peas and spinach can be planted as soon as the ground is soft enough to work. More vegetables can be sown later alongside these earlier plants. They will mature and be out of the way by early summer. Purchase seeds now so you'll be prepared when the planting bug hits. Garden seeds can be found at any home and garden supply, nurseries, and often in your local supermarket.  In the meantime, begin preparing a spot. An existing garden will take a little loosening of the soil. If tearing up sod is necessary, a little more work and soil preparation will be required. Don't forget that container gardening is also an option. It isn't prudent to tear up half an acre of grass if you've never grown a vegetable of your own. It might be wise to start small with a few herbs and a tomato or jalapeno pepper plant!

Spring Break

Spring Break is a time to catch your breath after the busy winter days of work and school. Try to take some time off from work and spend a few days of fun with your kids. Here are some ideas for planning your Spring Break.

Take a Family Trip

Spring is a great time for family trips. The weather is so much more pleasant at DisneyWorld in March than in July and August. And, snow birds know that spring skiing is the best.

Since you just have a week, you might want to consider a short driving trip around the area. Short trips are perfect when you have kids with you. They (and you!) don't get too exhausted. You save money on lodging and meals, so you can do all the fun things that seem to cost a fortune. Plus, you have time to relax and hang out at home before you go back to work and school.

Get Outside

Have an outside work day to get the yard in shape and start your gardening plans. Gather the materials needed for a special outdoor project with your kids. You can start a kid-sized garden or build a birdhouse. Plan a special treat for everyone's hard work.

If the weather is nice, plan an afternoon outdoors at a local park. Take a picnic lunch, kites for everyone, and balls & bats for a softball game. Let the kids invite several buddies and you've got a memorable Spring day.

For a Spring learning adventure, take a hike in a nature area and learn to identify birds, trees, plants, and flowers. Spring is a natural time for kids to explore science and nature.

Having just given birth to my second child, I referred a lead to Des for a million dollar listing. Des secured the listing (over 3 other Realtors!), sold it herself...listed the Buyers home and sold that herself as well. She exceeded everyones expectations but we now all know it to be business as usual for Des. She is highly professional, very detail oriented and a pleasure to do business with.
