I believe in giving anything I'm involved with everything I've got. My job as a managing Broker is all about training, coaching my agents and growing my office. I subscribe to the "Build and they will come" approach. You have to get yourself right before you can lead (It's a work in progress:)
I believe in giving back to the REALTOR community and also the local community. I am currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Dulles Area Association of REALTORS (DAAR) and as their Vice Chair of Membership on the Executive Committee. I also serve as the Chair of DAAR's Community Services Committee whose goal it is to provide support to all the local shelter related charities. REALTORS=SHELTER.
Even our humble office in Hamilton my office does a lot to give back to our local community. We support Hamilton's Annual Hamilton Day events which include a 5K walk run to support town activities. We host a porch party on the same day an offer the best seats in town to the most Americana Parade you'll ever attend with free Cookies & Lemonade for all.
We host free Wine & Cheese Reception for local artists 3 times a year in exchange for the opportunity to have their works of art decorating our walls for 3-4 months.
We also organize an annual Holiday Homes Tour of Historic Hamilton to raise funds for The Sunshine Kids Foundation. Helping Kids with Cancer Smile. Thru these efforts we have been able to donate about $5,000 annually to this effort. It's a win win for my REALTORS as they get to know area home owners and the homes history, they get to network with attendees and they get to help out a good cause.
I especially proud this year that 5 out of DAAR's 25 Honor Society recipients for 2008 were Prudential Carruthers REALTORS. DAAR has about 1,000 members so that means those recipients were in the top 2.5% of their peers. The Honor Society has replaced all production awards at DAAR. We figured the public is tired of hearing us toot our own horn especially about how much money we make or production numbers. To be eligible to be inducted into The Honor Society members most achieve a minimum score in 4 out of 5 categories that include minimum production points, education, designations, DAAR networking activities, committee work on Local, State & National levels as well as Community Service work.
