I moved to Bloomington in 1972 after four years in the Air Force (I was stationed in Grand Fork, North Dakota) to attend Indiana University. By 1975 my wife and I began making wooden toys. This was at the beginning of the craftsperson boom where many baby boomers became artists and craft persons. In fact my wife and I were founding members of the By Hand Gallery, an artisan's co-operative which formed in the late 70s and is still thriving! In fact I helped name it. We were also on the founding committee for the Forth street Festival of the Arts and Crafts which has grown to be one of the best (in terms of attendance and quality of work) craft festivals in the mid-west.
I went on to become a cabinetmaker and open a separate shop for that purpose. We built furniture and cabinets from rough cut lumber to finished product and took a great deal of pride in our work. However, in 1989 I closed the wood working shop and became a full time Realtor in Bloomington, IN. That has been my occupation ever since. I try to apply the same attitude and level of quality in my real estate business as I did as a cabinetmaker.
Currently, besides work, I play guitar and sing in a couple of local blues bands, play golf once a week weather permitting and spend a good deal of time with my wonderful wife Debbie and my son Jeremy (we attend major league baseball games every year), his wife (our daughter-in-law) Elizabeth and our first grandchild, James.
I specialize in residential real estate marketing and selling. Generally I work with mainly sellers but welcome buyers as well. My main goal working with buyers is to help them find and obtain a good investment. Even when their focus is simply on a place to live, I always offer my expertise with regard to the potential for appreciation and the ease of re-selling.
