I graduated from O'More College of Design in 1980, then worked in a wallpaper store for 1.5 years.
I was employed by Bank of America (Commerce Union, Sovran, C&S Sovran, NationsBank, B of A) for 17 years, working in the branch system for 7 years, then 10 years in operations as CD support analyst. I have had a Notary Commission since 1985.
My job ended at BofA in 1998. In 2001 I joined the Closet Factory as a designer, and have worked with them since.
I also started offering organization services in 2002. I joined NAPO - the National Association of Professional Organizers, and in 2007 joined the local Chapter of NAPO.
It seems that I am primarily working with clients who have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
I absolutely have the best job in the world!
Working with clients that are ADD / ADHD is interesting - I try to offer insights as we work. Almost everyone has a little ADD when it comes to their own possessions. My focus is in helping any client identify items that are important and those that do not add value to his / her life. One question I ask is: "Do you want to be a stagnant pond or a babbling brook?" Possessions and papers tend to block energy and keep people from finding peace in their environment. It is amazing how much better clients feel when they decide what is of value to them. The client ONLY makes the final decision to discard possessions, and must be satisfied with his / her decision.
